homebuilt safety by
anonymous coward
I'd be grateful if anyone can direct me towards links about the relative
safety of different types of homebuilt aircraft. Not figures I can use to
prove to myself that flying a homebuilt is safe, but a discussion of all
the factors that affect safety in homebuilt aircraft. I haven't found...

The Meredith Effect by
Corky Scott
In the supplements section of the online version of Air&Space Magazine
is an article entitled "The Meredith Effect". There are two parts to
the article, the first is a synopsis by F.W. Meredith, B.A. of his so
named cooling system design which came from his "Note on the cooling
of aircraft engines...

Painting with Latex House Paint by
Ron Wanttaja
One of our Fly Baby restorers is painting his aircraft with latex house paint.
He's been posting his progress to the Fly Baby mailing list, and is allowing me
to repost his messages to my web page:

I'm interested in how you built the mount.
Thanks in advance,

Metal Prop vs. Wood Prop by
Larry Smith
I have a wood prop on my Taylorcraft and the GPS says it's slow, at around
65 kts. How about a discussion on the relative merits of wood and aluminum
props. I understand that wood is easier on your engine but the aluminum
prop is more efficient. Another thing I notice too, especially on...

Lancair Legacy Design Flaw? by
Gregory Hall
http://www.youngeagles.org/photos/gallery/Monoplanes/LancairLegacy2000.jpg
Look at the picture. It's easy to see why the Lancair is dangerous. The
horizontal stabilizers appear to be on the too small side. This would result
in their stalling before the wing. Then the aircraft would pitch up...

Wittman tailwind by
Harry O
From memory, the differences were slight. The wing airfoil was different.
The W-10 has a curve on the bottom where the W-8 was flat. I understand
that there were 2 or 3 inches of extra width in the fuselage. Also, the
W-10 was stressed for larger (Lycoming) engines. I built the airframe for...

Here's a silly question regarding plans by
David Hill
I'm building a replica of a 1924 plane. Since it's a replica, it's not
exactly an original design, but there are no plans or drawings, so I get
to make up the dimensions (based on photographs of the original). :-)
What I would like to end up with, besides a plane, is a set of plans
that would be...

IVO props... comments.. by
Dave S
I am involved with the building of a velocity, and questions are flying
around about propeller choice. For in-flight adjustable, we are limited
at this time to an electric control, such as MT or IVO. Cost is pushing
our options in this area towards the IVO.
I have heard of some vibration/resonance...
