What's Your Favorite Hand Rivet Squeezer? by Larry Smith
I used US Industrial Tool and Supply's hand squeezer to repair trailing edges and add pma'd bulb on two '56 Cessna flaps. They turned out nicely and two A&P's liked them, but the squeezer was hard to use with 1/8" diameter 2117 rivets. Avery and Tatco sell nice hand squeezers. Avery is better...

Driving sheet-metal screws into 4130 by Grandpa B.
Greetings, all. I'm restoring a Champ, and have a question about driving screws into a drilled 4130 tube. If I drill the proper sized hole, the screws refuse to 'take'; they simply give up their threads to the harder metal of the tube. If I over-size the hole, then the screw won't hold diddley...

Any suggestions on how to remove waterproofing by Roger
I'll try again, Any suggestions on how to remove a good dose of waterproofing (non silicon) from a fiberglass and resin (vinyl Ester) lay-up? Can it be done safely and with no lasting, or long term aftereffects? This is inside the horizontal stab where strength is pretty important. I'm to the...

Okay, you guys told me to post binaries to the alt.binary file. I did that. It's under Badwater Bill and it's titled Lark GLider. I can't find the shot I took when I was above the crap you see in the background. But here's the story: I got a clearance to go up into PC. That's what we called...

Owner's Manual Format by RST Engineering

Torque for prop bolts by Scott
Quick question for the group. When setting the torque on prop bolts (I have bolts with nuts), if the hole for the cotter pin doesn't line up with the castleated nut at the proper torque setting, is it better to go tighter or looser to get the hole lined up. My gut instinct says tighter,...

Orphaned Engine by [email protected]
Most Experts Aren’t. That's something the late Smokey Yunick said back when I was a seaman deuce. Every month my mail delivers one or two messages saying it's still true. The messages usually come from some superbly experienced fellow who has literally spent his life working on cars or trucks. He...
