Refinishing a Wood Prop by
Kyle Boatright
I've noticed that my prop is beginning to show signs of wear -chips in the
leading edge, and cracks in the clear finish. Given that I'm having shoulder
surgery in a couple of weeks (and probably won't be up to flying until the
arm is substantially healed), I should have some time on my hands to...

Minimum Instruments Required? by
John A. Landry
Greetings all,
I know this must've been discussed here before, but I couldn't find anything
definitive one way or the other when searching with Google.
A friend who's starting an amateur-built experimental aircraft project
recently emailed me to ask if there's a list of the *minimum*...

Canoe pontoons? by
Scott Marquardt
Has anyone done it? I did the obligatory google search, and found nothing
in 20 seconds (so it must not exist, right? ;-) Obviously, though, I'm not
the first idiot to think of it.
I'd like to see a light plane with canoes for pontoons. There'd be vertical
tubes that would drop down (think a...

Sears tools by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
I recently purchased the Sears "Professional" Lithium batteried driver
drills. I purchased two because I was in the process of erecting a metal
building. The batteries and charger worked good but the keyless chuck on
both drills exhibit what I call "Auto Loosen". I have several other keyless...

jaun is a liar/ truck titlesJJJJJJ by
ChuckSlusarczyk
I gave jaun enough rope to make a fool of himself .So just for the record you
can go to the following sites and see copies of my registrations for my 97 ,00
and 03 Dodge Ram trucks, all with my name listed as the owner. Everyone knows
that you can't get plates and registrations without titles.
I...

Weigh scales by
abripl
I sold my mechanical Ruggles weigh scales and now am trying some
digital automotive racing scales that are just a little more expensive.
The scales I found are actually less expensive than normal racing
scales but the real advantage is that they can be sold individually
rather than a set of four....

engine pre-oiler by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
I'm thinking about using an electric diesel fuel pump to pressurize my 0320
with engine oil to pre-lube before starting. Have any of you tried that?
The accumulator method is heavier than I want to use.

Aerodynamics acording to Myth Busters! by
cavelamb himself[_2_]
It is more fuel efficient to drive a pick-up truck with its tailgate
down, rather than up.
Busted
Driving with the tailgate down actually increased drag on the pick-up
and caused it to consume fuel faster than the identical truck driven
with the tailgate up. It was later revealed that the...

Carbon Fiber - Achieving Glossy Finish w/o GelCoat by
RKT
I am trying to piece together the process of vacuum bagging a CF part from
several sources and comments. I am trying to achieve a glossy finish on the
mold side of the finished part.
I though that the gloss that I saw on a purchased part was achieved from
GelCoat. The manufacturer tells me no -...

New Home of the Fly Baby by
Ron Wanttaja
My unofficial Fly Baby Home Page now has a new abode:
http://www.bowersflybaby.com/
Thanks to the good offices of Javier Henderson, it's got a lot more room to
spread out in. This allowed me to do a major reorganization, and do stuff
like have thumbnail links to all the pictures.

Substitute for Mahogany plywood by
Kelvin & Janice Rempel
Does anyone here know if Lloyds 1088 Marine grade Okoume plywood would be a
good replacement for Aircraft grade African mahogany? The Okoume used water
proof glue and is boiled in water for 3 hours just like Aircraft grade
plywood. The price of mahogany appears to be going through the roof and...

when I look at my eyeglass case, I see two closely overlapping

why would it not be worthwhile to extend wings this way for landing and
departure?
