Cessna landing light switch by
[email protected]
I have a C-172B that has the dual landing lights in the wing. The first
position on the pull-out light switch turns on only the taxi light (at
least I assume it is for taxi as it is aimed so low) and the next
position turns on both (landing and taxi). Does anyone know if there is
a legal...

Financing for Experimental Aircraft by
James Keane
Gang,
I am peparing to purchase a Long EZ (a very nice one, at that). While
I have the cash, I figure I'm better financing a portion of hte
airplane for various reasons (likely 60-70%).
Am I going to have difficulty finding a lender for an Experimental
category aircraft that is already built and...

Replacement Cessna 152 panel by
Paul Folbrecht
Where can I get one? I looked at places like Aircraft Spruce and found
nothing.
My panel is cracked and chipped in numerous places. It looks like crap.
I know you can buy replacement panels without the holes drilled for
chearp. I can take care of the holes.

Devine Air Group (23R,Texas) PIREP by
Plaindriver
I would strongly recommend NOT using Devine Engine (23R) for ANYTHING! I am still finding problems with an overhaul and interior refurbishment done there in March of 04. And owner of the shop, Bruce McWhorter wont even respond to any of my numerous emails. I have even sent hin distinct photos...

Plane Pocket as a hangar? by
Paul Tomblin
In a previous article, said:
is endless. Does anyone have experience with this gadget? Apparently it
opens hydraulically from a solar-charged battery.

Since it's almost certain that you're a shill for the company, maybe you
can answer why...

Rigging a Cherokee 6-300 by
Dave
My maintenance shop rigged my control surfaces, at my request. The
plane 'seemed' to have been flying in a bank, despite having the AI
centered and DG on the same track.
They found that the flaps were the biggest culprits and adjusted them
accordingly.
When I flew it and took it up to cruise,...

Filling with nitrogen by
scott moore
Hi,
I am considering purchase of a nitrogen fill system. I don't have power
at my tiedown, and filling the tires with a 12 volt portable compressor
is a pain due to having to park the car near the tire, move to the
other side, etc. I figgured a nice nitrogen tank system would give me
a power free...

External GPS Antenna by
Jim Weir
Sorry...repost of six months ago...
-Caution...blatant commercial hucksterism follows:
-
-We've found a source for ACTIVE GPS antennas that are WATERPROOF, GASKETED,
and
-mount in a single 7/8" (22mm) hole. They come with 16.4 feet (actually, 5
-meters) of tiny little RG-174 cable and your...

IFR GPS certification by
nobody
Sorry about the x-post but didn't know where to ask the question.
I guess I've been living under a rock. I wanted to update the VFR GPS in
the panel to an IFR model. I started getting quotes on recon GNC 300XLs.
The units themselves were about 2,500-3,000. I was shocked to find out that
I had...

Garmin 496-XM Radio-PS Engineering Intercom Follow up... by
Jay Honeck
To recap our problem, last week Tony (and his guys) at McCandless
Aviation in Waterloo, IA, had no luck connecting the XM radio (music)
output from my Garmin 496 to our PS Engineering PCD-7100 (a stereo CD
Player/4-place intercom that we've had in the panel since '02). They
found that connecting...

Stuck cowl flap cable by
Jim Burns
I've got a problem with a cowl flap cable in our Aztec.
The other day when landing, I opened the cowl flaps to 1/2 on final, then
full open after landing. I noticed when going from 1/2 open to full open
while on the ground the left cable seemed stiff. I tried closing the flap,
then reopening and...

Burglary by
NVArt
Had the dastardly happen a couple nights ago. Garmin 196, two David
Clarks, eyeglasses. In my hangar, too.
Looks like a pro job. No vandalism apparent. Plane was unlocked with
key in ignition. And left that way by perp(s).
The question: Would any of you have an A&P do a thorough check of the
bird...

Lycoming 0-360 A4M Engine overhaul in Ohio by
Roy Page
We are based in NE Ohio and looking to overhaul another Archer's engine
soon.
We had a bad experience recently with core charges from Lycoming and have
decided to do a field overhaul on this bird.
We would like to fly the bird in so we are looking at companies within a
reasonable distance of NE...

check your tachometer by

Several years ago I developed a software program to read engine RPM
based on the sound that the engine makes. I now have a new version of
this (free) software available which is much easier to use than the
old verison. It runs on any Pocket PC, or any Windows laptop. You
can use it to check the...

Big bad ugly first annual by
ncoastwmn
I'm not sleeping after getting the report grounding my Luscombe 8A
after its first annual as my plane. All the advise about a pre-buy
inspection is true! I thought my plane was too to do that at a long
distance. (My plane came from Georgia, I'm in California). The outboard
five feet of the wings...
