Delorme InReach reporting elevation or altitude ?? by
[email protected]
Has anyone of the early adopters actually flown with the new DeLorme InReach ?
I had a contact with their tech support a while back, who mentioned that they report elevation, not altitude.
Also their tracking pages mention elevation.
I found tracks of Paul/Frank and Sean, but they look like they...

Source of L'Hotellier Fittings? by
Six-Seven Romeo
Anyone know of a source for new l'hotellier fittings?
I received an email from the son of an home builder in the Ukraine asking about a source for these fittings. He found my name from my web site where I described adding wederkind sleeves to l'hotellier fittings on a DG glider.
One possible...

Pegasus becomes Lazarus! (or "I'm not dead yet!") by
Mark628CA
I am holding in my hot little hand a letter from Jacqueline Jambor, a Manager with the FAA's Project Support Branch, ACE-112. It states that the FAA has accepted the request submitted by my friend and hangar partner, airshow pilot Bob Carlton, for a Global Alternate Method Of Compliance (AMOC) that...

Too fast vs too slow by
Ramy
Say overall speed is not an issue (you are not racing) and the only objective is to achieve best glide to make it home with a marginal final glide. Also lets assume you fail to maintain the correct speed and deviate +/- 10 knots. Which will have less penalty, flying 10 knots too fast or too slow...

sport airplane from private glider by
Andy[_1_]
In a recent thread it was asserted that it was possible to get sport
pilot airplane privileges without taking a knowledge test and flight
test if the pilot held a private glider rating. For some reason I
cannot see that thread. I had doubts that this was true and followed
up with AOPA.
The text...

New iPAQ 210 by
Paul Remde
Hi,
A few customers just clued me in about the upcoming new iPAQ 200 Series. It
looks like an excellent replacement for the iPAQ hx4700. The only question
is whether or not the "24 pin connector" is the same as used on previous
iPAQs and whether or not it has an RS-232 serial port. I hope it...

FAA to use BMI to trigger screening for Sleep Apnea by
son_of_flubber
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a number calculated from your height and weight.
On the logic that pilots with BMI over 40 are likely to have Sleep Apnea and therefore more likely to fall asleep when piloting, the FAA is planning to require AMEs to use BMI to trigger evaluation for sleep apnea when...

See and Avoid - Birds by
Andy[_1_]
The thing that is perhaps most interesting to me about the A320 Hudson
incident is the report that the first officer, who was pilot flying,
saw the canada geese and "made note of it". Why didn't he take
immediate evasive action? It will be very interesting to see the CVR
transcript.
I wonder how...
