Hi All,
I fly a TB20 (avgas). The flight manual recommends various things but
does not give any ambient temperatures below which they should be
used.
The whole subject is a bit vague...

Honeywell - deleting GPS download accounts? by
John R. Copeland
My experience with Olathe (nee King) personnel has always been good.
It's the Honeywell overlay from other locations where I've seen situations like yours.
Could it be that the old-line Bendix/King people no longer control Olathe?

CNS-80 VNAV by
John R. Copeland
After upgrading to software version 2, the CNS-80 offers a new
display page, resembling an HSI with a VDI pointer at its left.
The unit's computed VDI presentation is active for many GPS
approaches, as well as for all LNAV and LPV approaches.
However, I have not (yet) found in the pilot's manual...

GNS480 Simulator by
John R. Copeland
Garmin AT has made available their simulator for the GNS480.
I don't know how long it's been there, but I just noticed it at:
http://www.garmin.com/products/gns480/
It's a nice step upward from the older CNX80 simulator.

This is concerning practical issues, not regulatory issues which in

³Minimum Fuel" Does Not Mean Priority Handling
Recent ASRS incident reports reveal a common misunderstanding involving
use of the phrase ³minimum fuel. Pilots may tell ATC that they have
³minimum fuel with the expectation that they...

Non existent VOR by
john smith
I flew from Ohio to Florida early this week. The third leg was from
Valdosta (KVLD) GA to West Palm Beach (KPBI) FL.
My originally filed route was amended twice before I got 25 miles. JAX
Center gave me PHK (Pahokee VOR) as my final fix before KPBI.
As I was nearing the east shore of Lake...

Flew my first SID by
john smith
After 21 years of being instrument rated, I flew my first SID this week.
Departing KPBI on Thursday afternoon, bound for the first fix, LBV
(LaBelle VOR).
Normally, I file NO SIDS OR STARS in the remarks section. This time I
forgot and they gave it to me.

It gets real interesting when you are bouncing around in turbulence.
I have an Apple Newton 2100 that I have used to record flight
information on. The Newton is kneeboard size.

The train was quite crowded, so the U. S. Marine walked its entire
length looking for a seat, but the only seat left was taken by a

The French woman just sniffed and said to no one in...

My First GPS Approaches by

Flew my first GPS approaches this morning...
Wow!!! Easy and precise!
I was flying a 1997 C182S with King KLN 94 GPS and UPSAT MX 20 moving
map display.
The moving map has a lot of lag during a turn, but fly the OBS and you
go right where you are supposed to.

Approach Timing by

For those of you using handheld GPS's when you fly IFR:

speed to the approach speed table so the time is correct to the MAP?
Or,
Do you use the distance to the airport to determine/verify the MAP, even
though the time may not...
