Delorme InReach reporting elevation or altitude ?? by
[email protected]
Has anyone of the early adopters actually flown with the new DeLorme InReach ?
I had a contact with their tech support a while back, who mentioned that they report elevation, not altitude.
Also their tracking pages mention elevation.
I found tracks of Paul/Frank and Sean, but they look like they...

Glider Electronics Experiment #1 - electrical crosstalk demonstrated by
Richard Lancaster[_2_]
Hi all,
I got a bit bored and started filming some glider electronics experiments. I am attempting to pitch them to be interesting and understandable even if you don't know much about electronics.

Colin Roney
I`m searching for good ideas how to deter crows from landing on my glider,
which is picketted out during the season, from wrecking my weather covers?

Wed 6-19-20 Region 8 Ephrata Wa by
Nick Kennedy[_3_]
Post frontal passage, blown out on airport. Gusts to 40+
Today, Thursday looks stormy with downpours predicted and strong winds again.
Friday and Saturday both look task-able.
Mexi dinner served here last night and we knocked back quite a few bottles of wine. Alot of pilots staying on the airfield...

Is Trizact worth the money? by
[email protected]
I'm curious to know if experienced glider sanders think the 3m trizact is worth the money they charge for it. I can get more than twice the number of 3000 grit 3m purple sanding disks for the same price. They don't have the foam backing - but I can fix that. Is the trizact 3000 more than twice...

Kobo with Cambridge 302 by
[email protected]
Is anybody running xc soar on a kobo connected to a Cambridge 302? If so, what type of cable did you use to connect, and which port on the kobo did you tell xc soar to use? I'm running it on a pocket pc now, using a custom serial cable. But the kobo is much easier to see. I made up a homemade...

Question about PowerFlarm IGC recording rate by
SoaringXCellence
I just had my first flight with my newly updated PowerFlarm. I was able to download the ICG file to the microSD card and it all worked great.
BUT, (there's always a but), I also had another recorder (XCSoar, thank you VERY much) and compared the files with SeeYou. It appears the PF is recording...

Links for new people interested in gliding by
Lucky812[_2_]
I have people ask me about gliding all the time. I always send them to the http://www.letsgogliding.com/ site and forward them links for Bruno Vassel or Balleka videos on YouTube.
Does anyone else have any favorite sites that they send people to in order for them to get interested in gliding?

Lambada Motorglider Down at 5C1 by
150flivver
Just saw where a Lambada pilot deployed the chute and descended under
canopy near Boerne Stage airfield. It sounds like he could have had a
flight control malfunction but this is pure speculation.

Bad News Regarding Charlie Spratt by
Paul Remde
I just received some very bad news regarding Charlie Spratt. This is a very
tough letter to write.
If you don't know Charlie Spratt - he has been a soaring contest CD
(Competition Director) at many soaring contests around the USA over the last
few decades. He did a great job running soaring...

Too fast vs too slow by
Ramy
Say overall speed is not an issue (you are not racing) and the only objective is to achieve best glide to make it home with a marginal final glide. Also lets assume you fail to maintain the correct speed and deviate +/- 10 knots. Which will have less penalty, flying 10 knots too fast or too slow...

DG's new requirements for older DG ships by

I'm wondering what other owners of older DG ships think of DG's
requirement to pay a fee upfront in order to purchase parts and
software to maintain their gliders.
I own a DG 202/17.
