Anywhere WX users - free tool for easier e-mail, waypoint entry, etc... by
Mark Astley
Please excuse this shameless plug...
For Anywhere WX users (well actually, anyone using a PocketPC while
airborne), I've created a custom Soft Input Panel (SIP) which lets you enter
commonly used text fragments with a single tap. There are also some more
advanced features in the works, like the...

Anywhere Map with XM weather - Charlotte area demo?? by
Jeff B
I'm a long time AWM user and have been very satisfied to date. I will
be upgrading to weather sometime near the end of the year. I have a
friend who is looking to purchase something now. I've steered him to
the AWM + XM WX solution, but both of us would like to see it in use
before laying out a...

Anyone willing to email me a Canadian Chart? by
Andrew Sarangan
Can someone be kind enough to email me the instrument approach and
Flight Supplement page for two Toronto airports (City Center and
Buttonville)? Scanned images would be great.
I am leaving on a trip this week and did not realize that buying charts
from Canada will take at least a week by...

C. Osbourne
I'm considering getting the Terrain Awareness MCC
card, for my 2000c and wondering if any of the list
members have installed this upgrate.
A third party, (non-compensated) review or or opinions
would be very helpfull for our list members who are
considering getting of these.

Anyone use Aeroplanner? by
Glenn Westfall
I am a current user of Destination Direct and it is a great program.
I also purchased some Maptech CD's for charts and the moving map
feature using a GPS is awsome. The only downside is you cannot print
out the sectionals along your route with DD. The printing feature of
the sectionals using DD...

Anyone ever hear this from a controller by
Kobra
Flyers,
I was flying IFR in VFR conditions and from NJ to Kissimmee, FL (KISM). As
I was approaching KISM the controller asked if I wanted to do a visual
approach or the ILS. Since I was in unfamiliar surroundings and wanted to
practice an ILS I said, "I'll take the ILS."
As I waited for the...

Any opinions on the Garmin GNS 480 ! ! ! by
RonLee
I am thinking seriously about getting the GNS480 and need opinions to
(try and) change my mind. The GNS 430 is nice but the 480 has more
features that I like. Anybody using one and making approaches? With
autopilot? with GPSS? Does GPS altitude REALLY work?

Any inside story re 430/530 WAAS cert.? by
[email protected]
This is from AvionicsWest:
"WAAS for the GNS430/530 is now postponed until sometime in 2006. I
don't "think" the problem is really a WAAS issue. You see,
Garmin plans on making the 430/530 comply with TSO 146 just as the
GNS480. TSO 146 requires an update rate of 5hz verses 1hz as the
product...

Any ideas on firm to use for IPC...within 3 flight hours of Salt LakeCity by
Doug Wells
I am out of currency on my IFR flying and wanted to go to an intensive
1 or 2 day IFR IPC course. Probably one that uses a simulator
extensively. I fly a Piper Turbo Saratoga.
I've heard is a good school in Vegas and thought the pilot said it was
flight safety but I called Flight Safety today...

Any early turn takeoffs still around? by
Michael
There used to be takeoff minimums where a turn was required as soon as
possible after takeoff for obstacle avoidance reasons. Anyone know if
any such still exist or if they have all been phased out?

Answer on CEF ILS RWY 23 questions by
Paul Tomblin
The USAF terps guy Timothy Lovell sent John Haggerty (FAA terps guy) a
response to his query about the question I asked here, about the odd
step-down on the LOC vs LOC/DME versions of this approach. For those not
playing along at home, the LOC has a MDA of 900 feet, and the LOC/DME has
an MDA of...

Another Weird KLN94 Problem by
gwengler
I had a bizarre problem on my KLN94. The display itself is totally
fine (i.e. the moving map shows everything correctly, all pixels are
OK); however, on almost all other text pages, there is information
missing. For example, the groundspeed is not showing on the NAV page,
or a frequency on an APT...
