That pretty much mirrors something a dear and wise friend had to say about
that footage. As she put it, the world should be reminded of the horror of
that day, and to remember that it's not just Manhattan or the US that's a
target, but anyone, anywhere.

That said, I'll just add this. While I agree that "it *is* an important day
in our history. And it *is* remarkable, unique aviation footage.", I think
you agree that the event depicted in those clips is far more emotionally and
historically significant than anything else on that page, and that bothers
me. It's just there, alphabetized along with airshow mishaps and such,
analogous to having the zapruder film on a page full of presidential parade
clips. I know it isn't your intention to cheapen 9/11, but as that page is,
that's the impression I get - another "cool" aviation video.

I'd suggest setting it apart from the others somehow. Not necessarily it's
own page, but just not lumped in with the rest as it is. But again, it's
just me thinking out loud here - you said you weighed adding them at all,
and I respect your right to operate your site as you see fit. Just a
thought.

Whoops, hit REPLY a bit too soon.
I wanted to add that what you wrote in your response here would do nicely as
an intro to those clips.

I, too, feel deeply saddened and angry all
over again when I watched those videos, and I debated whether to put them

on
the website.

After reflection I decided that while re-living September 11th is truly
awful, it *is* an important day in our history. And it *is* remarkable,
unique aviation footage.

And, finally, let's not forget that the ******* who instigated that attack
is still out there, still at large, still gathering support. Still on the
run. Still threatening to kill.

Perhaps we need to feel that anger anew?

besides you don't have 100% proof of this (you are only repeating what
othres say): not wanting to playing down the event, it wsa tragic and all,
but first: there came even worser things from involved parties one does not
expect implementing them and second: life goes on. sad for the families and
friends directly involved, but true.

Excellent point. It does appear insensitive, the way they are currently
listed.

I will somehow put them in their own category, so they're not shown as just
another "cool video"...

Thanks for your input!

Type "9/11 video" into Google or Yahoo.

You'll get over 2 million hits. Most of them have the video. (Well,
actually I got bored after looking at the first 100 or so...) I'm
apparently in good company.

It's important video, and it belongs to all Americans. We will never
forget.

Not to the degree of RealOne.

If you do create a separate category for 9/11, you might have links to
a couple of sites with appropriate tributes to the victims, both
safety personnel (FDNY, police, and so on) and civilians. Not long
after 9/11 I saw a very moving site that had all the victims' names,
many of their photos, all animated with Enya's "Only Time" piece. I
tried to find it last night but Google by now has too many. Another
great site was that place in Utah, Salt Lake City I think, that had
American flags for each victim. I'll try to search around a bit and
offer URLs so as to save you some time.

I tried Quicktime. While it works fine, the videos play back very small --

So, in typical computer fashion, I purged it with great prejudice...

I guess you forgot to look at the menu bar.
- Half Size
- Normal Size
- Double Size
- Fill Screen
