Small aircraft don't have CVRs. Never hit a major downdraft in a safe, major carrier, then? None that I found alarming. Downdrafts are harmless as long as you're well above terrain. Uh. Well, yeah. I don't recall losing 15,000 feet in a rotor on a commercial flight, but I suppose anything is possible. A handful of exceptions does not disprove the rule. |

Maybe that's what he meant. Passengers who fail to keep their seat belts fastened risk injury even in moderate turbulence that is harmless to the aircraft. |
