Oil Temperature sending unit by
Corky Scott
Many of you know this but for those who do not, I'm working on a
Christavia Mk4 with a Ford V6 for the engine.
Last winter our EAA chapter invited the local DAR to speak during a
meeting. The guy turned out to be a crusty old codger who appeared to
be of an age where he could care less what...

Book Review: Converting Auto Engines for Experimental Aircraft , Finch by
Paul
A little good information but mainly cheerleading
At one time, it was thought that auto engines were for cars, boat
engines were for boats, and airplane engines were for airplanes.
Eventually, Gardner diesel and Miller/Offenhauser racing marine
engines wound up in vehicles, Liberty, Napier Lion,...

Spaceship One Roll Problem by
Kyle Boatright
Any rumblings from the desert on the cause of the roll problems during
yesterday's flight?
I know Melville said he might have stepped on something, and Rutan was
quoted as saying wind shear might cause a roll problem, but neither one
appeared to have much confidence in their answer.
An...

OT Need Beta Testers - Namu6 Website Editor by

Namu6 is a visual website editor for Windows.
I know this is off topic, but I was figuring there may be someone who
wants to maintain their aviation website with our product.
Anyway, the software appears stable in our in-house test, however we
would
like a large scale test on a variety of...

cvjetkovic ca-65 skyfly- plywood spar? by
patrick mitchel
A friend was given a reference to the use of plywood as a spar in the ca-65
skyfly. Was unaware of the use of ply as a spar in aircraft. Perhaps a
laminated spar with all the veneers running the same direction, but with
half running parallel to the chord????? Anyone have knowledge of...

Bolt torque by
Neal Fulco
I'm about to do some final torquing of bolts and I want to make sure
I have the right torque numbers. A DOT Inspection and Repair manual
chart states that an AN-3 bolt with an AN-365 nut ( fine thread )
should be torqued to 20-25 inch pounds. Is this correct? Thanks
Neal

The following is information I am repeating, but have no first hand

About that X-Prize by
Shiver Me Timbers
Hey folks...... It's just me again.
I thought that to claim the X-Prize that two passengers had to be taken
upstairs as well as the pilot.
Yesterday I saw the pilot during the flight, then waving the flag, but
I didn't see sign of passengers.
Was I blind...... or just misinformed.
