headset adapter? by
[email protected]
Hello,
I've been wondering if it's possible to adapt a cellphone handsfree
headset to aviation use. For my purposes I don't need noise reduction
so don't like wearing a full headset. I realize that the plugs need to
be adapted but just wondering if they need to be impedance matched and
if the...

Oshkosh Reflections by
Jay Honeck
One of the problems with a 1 gig camera memory card is that it is possible
to take virtually unlimited pictures at OSH. If you figure it takes a
minimum of 1 minute per pic to look at, adjust, and save -- and I took 250
photos -- we're looking at a minimum of four hours just to save the pix...

Considering portable garage/fabric shelter - what did you do? by
Michael Horowitz
A possibility exists I might want to move the fuselage of the Tcraft
to my back yard in order to work on it (wings off, stored elsewhere).
I'd need to build a shelter of some kind. 12x26. Has anyone else
consider this and if so, what did they do? I see portable garages for
sale on the 'net, but...

Engine ( A-65) Propstrike and rebuild on cheap??? by
[email protected]
Folks - I had another propstrike on my engine.
Last time, my A&P sent it to an engine shop rather than doing the work
himself.
Experience has show that even if all the shop does is open and inspect,
it will cost me $3500. I need to try and get that cost down.
Of course, all this will have to be...

Removing Fabric by
Michael Horowitz
When you remove fabric from a tube fuselage, the part that is glued
down will be like concrete. I know I dare not scrape for fear of
scratching the tubing.
How do you soften/remove the remaining fabric and glue residue? - Mike

New Engine on New homebuilt by
David Koehler
Hi All,
I'm not there yet, but, I have a new Lycoming O-360 and in the process of
building a homebuilt kit. Lycoming says to break in the engine at full power
and gives procedures on how to do it. The kit needs slow taxi, then fast
taxi, glazing of the brakes. After take off there are procedures to...

Homebuilding Killed John Walton by
Carl
I just read in the newspaper that John Walton, the billionaire son of
Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, was killed in a homebuilt airplane? That
got me thinking to look for a NG that might be dedicated to this
activity, and I found this one.
This is all new to me, quite honestly, and disturbing. ...

magneto rotation? by
Heino & Deanne Weisberg
When referring to magneto rotation, do you look at the magneto from the
drive end or harness end?
I believe a RH rotating mag would be clockwise as you look at it from the
drive end, but I'm not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Beyond HOTAS and FADEC - AI ??? by
Rich S.
As I read more about the Third Industrial Revolution, the chapter on AI has
come into scrutiny. We are nibbling at the edges of intelligent monitoring
of our powerplants, however the inclusion of the pilot in the loop seems to
be the weak point. All the Red Arcs, Warning flags, Alarm tones and...

Beta Prop by
Rob Fonhof
Hi All.
Just wondering if there are any props out there that can be used on an
experimental aircraft engine, ie:subaru or RX-8 Renesis, which have a beta
range. Don't even want to consider a certified unit as this would probably
cost more than the rest of the firewall forward components.
Thanks in...

light twins? by
Bellsouth News Server
Greetings,
What light twins exist now? What I'd like to have is something like the
AirCam, for 100 mph, carefree low and scenic flying. Actually, push/pull
symetrical thrust would be even better. The AirCam would be fine as is, if
I could get a kit that's made from traditional materials, rather...

Good-bye, My Good Friend by
Capt.Doug
And so we must part again. Economic obsolescence brings despair once again.
The joy, the inner peace, the relaxing comfort that comes with a familiar
trusted colleague slips away once more. The anxiety of starting over with a
new partner is facing me, again. The future is daunting.
My first...
