Where are all the glider ads? by
Duster
I am looking into buying a used single-place glider (38:1) but am having difficulties in finding many ads for them. Soaring Mag used to have many, many pages of glider adverts, but now usually publishes less than a single column. I know about Wings and Wheels and the SSA classifieds, but are there...

Tape the pitot/static system during storage? by
[email protected]
Hi all.
From advice from another soaring pilot, I've been taping my pitot/static inlets with red electrical tape when I store my glider. This is done to keep bugs out during storage.
I started wondering if changes in air pressure could cause the airspeed and/or altimeter and/or vario...

LX7007 & "LX Compass module" - wind calc by
Pam Howarth
Does anyone have first hand experience of the LX7007 coupled to the "LX
Compass module"? Specifically at how good it is at calculating the wind
direction/speed?
By itself the LX7007 is less than convincing whilst the Oudie is quite
hopeless. As LX want £480 just for the "Compass module" I thought...

Winscore finish cylinder setup by
kirk.stant
I'm learning how to setup Winscore for a local club fun contest. So far it makes sense, but setting up the Finish Cylinder is a bit confusing. How do I set it up for a 500' agl min finish height? The finish settings have settings for the Top and Base of the Finish Gate Cylinder, both in ft...

looking to buy 2-place by
[email protected]
We have a group forming in Boise, Idaho intent on putting a 2-place
glider to work. The intent is to get a plane for instruction.
Unfortunately there is nothing available to rent within a 6 hour drive.
At this point we are willing to consider anything available. If you
have any leads on a...

A Rough Day Towing by
Dan Marotta
Seems I'm towing more than soaring these days...
A couple of days ago, while rolling out on final at about 300' AGL, a strong
gust under the high wing upset the Pawnee. Fortunately (for me), I carry a
lot of energy around the final turn, and was able to recover and land
normally. I had to...

Hi Gang
Maybe you do occasionally what I am about to describe or maybe you
have never done it. Regardless it is something you should be aware of.
Firstly a disclaimer. What I am about to describe may be technically
illegal where you fly and I am not suggesting you do it. However it
can be fun.

Sports class tasking by
[email protected]
The competition director has his hands full when tasking sports class
because of the vast differences in sailplane types in the class. If he
gives the Nimbus driver a challenging task, the 1-26 driver will have
no chance of completing the task. For this reason Assigned Task is not
allowed. At first...
