Trust those Instruments.... Trust those Instruments..... by A Lieberman
Suffice it to say, the subject line says it all. Had to get the oil changed in my plane today, and I got a "bonus" of 300 foot ceilings and a full day off of work, so I'd figure I'd knock out a few approaches in actual conditions and getting the engine nice and hot before the oil change. Looking...

Trouble filing IFR to Canadian Airports by Andrew Sarangan
I've made this flight many times before and never encountered this before. I filed from my home airport (MGY) to PT(which is an NDB) to CYKZ using DUATS. Everything went fine. When I called for my clearance, they didn't have anything on me. So I departed VFR, and tried calling again. Still no luck....

TRM Avionics -- Chillicothe OH (Ross County airport KRZT) by Richard Kaplan
Has anyone used TRM Avionics in Chillicothe OH? I am planning a major upgrade to my panel and they came in with a very competitive bid. References from past customers would be helpful. -- Richard Kaplan, CFII www.flyimc.com

trivial pursuit: international terminal forecast (TAF) by nick name
Canceling a flight because of weather can lead to some unusual pursuits. While getting a weather briefing, I came across the following snippet which is part of the Fallon (NAS) TAF: KNFL 2312/2409 VRB06KT 4800 BR VCSH SCT009 SCT060 OVC080 650809 651703 QNH3003INS Now I must confess that I had a...

Trip to the NE Practice area with ATC COMS - Video by [email protected]
Toying with a second camera in this video to see if I can get instrument and outside views to work side by side in a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLP1e0azFTA While this video worked to a reasonable degree, I won't be doing this on instrument approaches without a passenger manning the...

Trimble TL1000 GPS Questions by Jim Carter[_1_]
I can't seem to find any significant data on the web about this panel mounted GPS. Even Southeast Avionics website has very little information about the Trimble product line and they usually are an excellent reference point. Does anyone still use this GPS and are current databases still available?...

Trimble 2000X Navigator by [email protected]
http://astra.aero/downloads/ABIT/ABIT06-Meeting_Minutes_27-Jun-05.pdf Trimble 2000X Navigator? According to this website, it will be certified to TSO C146a (as Garmin GNS480) and at $6,500, this sounds like a good deal. I have a Trimble GPS, but I thought Trimble sold its aviation GPS business...

Transponder problems with ATC COMS - Video by [email protected]
I was passenger on a $100 hamburger run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBl3rbiwpTA Note, pilot is fresh on getting her VFR ticket and wanted to get some ground ops experience so she asked me to come along. She also thought it would be cool to capture her comms with ATC so I brought the recorder...

Transponder Landing System ??? by Trent D. Sanders
Have you ever heard of, or have any experience with a thing called the "Transponder Landing System", a form of IFR approach using a transponder? What is it, how does it work, does it work, do you have to have a special "endorsement" to fly it, etc? TDS N2997Y

Transponder Landing System by VOR-DME[_4_]
One airport I frequently use in the northeast has adopted an improvement plan which includes, along with a slight runway extension, the installation of a Transponder Landing System. The airport is currently served by a VOR approach and a GPS approach, but terrain considerations would almost...

Transponder code switching by Ken Pruchnick
What is the proper way to switch transponder codes? The way I have been taught is to put the transponder in stand by, switch to the new code. Then turn it to mode C I had an instructor tell me to just change it to the new code without turning it to stand by first. Like to hear from controllers as...

Transponder by Tom Cummings
My King KT-76A transponder has a stuck "Ident" button. It stuck when activated for ATC on the last flight and the button appears to have colapsed sideways underneath the cover panel. It is no longer visible in the opening now. ATC says the unit indicates an "Indent" signal presently. Does this...

Transmissions? by Hankal
I fly out of an uncontrolled airport on the cut out of Class C airspace. Once airborne beneath 1200 feet I contact Approach. "XXX Approach, Skyhawk 123, departed xyz at 500 feet, enroute to ZZZ request flight following" This is one transmission. Hangar talk tells me that is not necessary to...

transitioning from instruments to visual landing on final by Gerald Sylvester
I'm about 14 hours into my IFR training with 11 of those on the sim. I had to go to LAS for work (non-aviation) for 3 weeks. I came back and was dying to go flying. Well I expected the worst. I hadn't flown a plane in nearly 2 months since I was working on the IFR stuff. First time flying...

Transiting KCLE Class B by dutch
I have a fairly new Instrument Rating and need to fly my (non-turbo) Arrow from Chicago to Binghamton NY. The most efficient dry route appears to be V6 via Dryer, but that takes me right through the middle of the Cleveland Class B. Is this likely to be accepted as filed, or am I likely to get...

Training for my CFII - Got a couple questions by BoDEAN
What is the best course of action I should take to get my CFII? I am currently a CFI at a 141 school. My instrument skills are weak (I only have 10 hours actual, 60 simulated) and rarely fly instruments because all my students are primary. I need to get my knowledge test done, and I want to get...
