Skycraft Landing Light Question by
Jay Honeck
I'm in the midst of having these lights installed, (they are the
cut-in-the-leading-edge landing lights) and we come to a fork in the road
with regards to the wiring.
The kit comes with a split L/R on/off switch, and two 10 amp circuit
breakers. This means that my existing landing light switch...

The Joys of Aircraft Ownership 1,532 & 1,533 by
Brock Boss
Last Saturday my brother/co-owner and I had planned on taking our
fresh-out-of-annual 172 up for a good workout at our home base in
Lincoln, IL (Logan County - KAAA). I'm a 14 hour student pilot on
hiatus. I got sick of paying to fly in other people's airplanes. My
brother, Brad, got his ticket in...

Sticking yoke by
soxinbox
When doing steep turns, I noticed that there is a little resistance to pitch
changes on the yoke. It seems it binds a little in the bearing through the
panel. Does anyone have a suggestion for the type of lubricant I could use
on this? Do they make anything for this purpose?

ANR squeal on descent by
Juan Jimenez
Somebody explain to me why ANR headsets squeal when you are descending from
FL180 and lower in an unpressurized aircraft. Flightcom is modifying their
Denalis to deal with this but they say all ANR's do this.

Maintenance questions by
JJS
Okay, the Cherokee 140 annual is nearly finished. Compressions are 80, 80, 80, & 78 over 80 after 5 1/2 years and
650 hours of mostly autogas use.
So far everything looks very good except for two things. My A&P IA was inspecting the propeller spinner back plate
and was turning the prop real slow...

O. Sami Saydjari
Is there a website I can go to find out the TBO and overhaul costs of
any given engine? Right now, I am curious bout the GTSIO-520-L on a

Insurance for Cirrus SR20 and SR22 by
Doodybutch
I was thinking about upgrading to a Cirrus if I could scrape the money
together. They're really nice, if you haven't checked one out.
An acquaintance of mine told me that the insurance on these aircraft is much
higher than comparably priced singles because of the ballistic parachutes.
Apparently,...

Navion Maintainance by
PiperSeneca@
Thank you for the excellent info on parts availabilty. On a similar
topic, are there any maintenance trouble spots on the older Navions?
I was told that the hydraulic system is leaky or troublesome. Is this
true, how bad a problem is it and are there any other areas of
concern?

Considering buying a share by
Paul Tomblin
I belong to a really good flying club
(http://www.rochesterflyingclub.com/) - we've got 5 aircraft ranging from
a Piper Warrior (PA28-161) to a Piper Lance (P32R-300). I fly about 25-35
hours a year, and wish I could fly more. The majority of my flying is
weekend trips up to Canada to see my...

CO Detectors by

Anyone know if there is any problem in buying a battery operated "home" CO
detector and mounting it under your seat or somewhere inconspicuous? What
is the difference between a "home" unit and an "aviation" unit?

Archer Tach Red Arc by
Greg Esres
A student has an Archer II that has a red arc painted on the glass of
the tach between 2150 and 2350 RPM. The POH makes no mention of a red
arc.
I'm thinking that either the tach came out of an Arrow (which has a
red arc in this range) or some A&P confused the Archer with an Arrow
and painted it...

How Many Nations Follow the FAA? by
Charles Talleyrand
In the US we have a set of aviation regulations all made up by the FAA.
In Canada they have a different set of rules all made up by Transport
Canada. They don't blindly follow the American FAA system.
When in Belize I walked through the capital to the general aviation airport
and talked to a...

Question on Owner Produced Interior parts by

I was reading on http://150cessna.tripod.com about owner
manufactured parts. I was wondering if I could make my own interior
parts? For example change plastic parts to aluminum, or titanium
such as the plastic instrument bezels, mike holder ECT.
I have access to a really nice machine shop, CNC...

Time (years) SMOA by
Paul Folbrecht
The 150 I had pre-buy'ed today has an O-200 with 940 SMOA but this
overhaul happened 24 years ago. Mechanic has pointed out that
Continental also specifies a time limit of 12 years on overhaul and thus
this engine is technically runout.
Do I have much cause for concern?? I know engines are quite...
