New Zeland's famous wave photo by
[email protected]
A number of years ago during the course of the closing of the old Black
Forest Glider Port, I purchased a signed print of wave clouds over NZ.
This print measures about 20 X40, (acutally it's a bit larger than
that). In the lower left hand corner of the print are what looks like
the words Taieri...

Junior Team calendars by
[email protected]
Got my Junior Team Calendars. They look great! Every bit as good as
the SSA ones and no shots of a 2-33.
The are printed on quality paper, and I think a bit more artfully done
than the SSA ones, (just my opinion, but feel free to flame away.)
The most important thing about the Junior Team...

The Junior US Team by
[email protected]
As most of you who follow the machinations of this little on line group
know, the US will be sending a team of at least two, perhaps three
pilots to the Junior WGC in Rieti this summer.
At this point we have the pilots, but nothing for them to fly. It is
our fond hope that within the next few...

Any suggestions?

P.S. Wags with alternate suggestions as to where to stick the
antenna, please remember this is a family site.

Own a piece of soaring history by
[email protected]
When Ben Green imported his Libelle 301 back in the ‘60’s, he designed
what may have been one of the first clam shell trailers to be found in
the US. Certainly it was an improvement over what was at that time
available and by the standards of the time, very innovative.
At some point in the...

trailer transport by
Zuniz2
Hello! I"m new to the group and would like to ask if anyone knows of
someone in the biz of transporting gliders. I'm interested in a
glider located in far, far away land and am not too keen on the idea
of driving 5000 miles round trip.
thanks,

Glider accident in France claims two by
zurchman
A number of recent fatalities seem to involve some sort of
competition. Here's another one.
This glider crash in France was reported in the Wall Street Journal
because one of the pilots was the head of a large hedge fund. He was
49 and had been flying gliders since he was 16.
The other pilot...

FAA Test questions by
zurchman
Does anyone know what's going on with the FAA Airman Knowledge Test
Question Banks?
The last change they made to the test question bank was to change the
confusing "Subject Matter" Knowledge codes with the utterly ridiculous
"Learning Codes".
For years the FAA has bee running behind with posting...

CHANGING AWC FROM STANDARD TO EXPERIMENTAL AIR RACING by
ZZ
I have a PIK20B which has a Standard Airworthiness certificate. I want to change the AWC to Experimental Air Racing to facilitate two modifications: changing the drum brake to a hydraulic disk type and possibly the addition of winglets.
I would appreciate any advice and/or opinions from those who...

SURFACE PATCHING PASTE by
ZZ
I have always used Simtec's 4981 white patching paste to repair small dings and minor cosmetic divots. However I use such small amounts over long periods of time, nearly the entire quart eventually turns to rubber and has to be trashed.
I am looking for a lower quantity solution to avoid wasting...

FS: Mountain High Oxygen Regulator by
ZZ
I am selling a Mountain High oxygen regulator model 00REG-1032-00 which
fits on a standard US bottle type CGA-540. It has an "L" shaped
connector on the low pressure side. There is no provision for a meter on
the high pressure side but if your bottle is metered that shouldn't
matter. I bought...

Double Release Failure by
ZZ
It is likely that the probability of an ACTUAL double release failure on
tow is what ever positive number is closest to zero. Of course that
doesn't mean that Mr.Murphy can't serve one of these up.
I would be interested in hearing any accounts of actual, non-instructor
induced double release...

300lb (130kg) pilot by

Hello everybody, I'm a instrument rated private pilot with 120 hours TT, all single engine piston A/C.
I've been meaning to get a glider rating for a long time, mainly because I want to learn soaring and possibly do some light aerobatics on the cheap.
However I've been steered away several times...
