used aircraft valuation by
private
I have often heard (from people in the business) that a good opening offer
for what
(well) used aircraft (particularly light twins) are worth (wholesale?)
Total of the core value + time remaining on the engine(s) and prop(s) +
value of avionics and radios or other easily removable...

Bose X vs. LightSPEED Zulu Review by
[email protected]
For about three months I have owned both the Bose X headset and the
new LightSPEED Zulu headset (actually, three of them). Because of
this, I've been asked elsewhere a number of times for my impressions
of the two, so I finally sat down to write it up.
It is admittedly long, but I hope it helps a...

Any W&B calculators that work in 640x480 on HP4700 PDA? by
Jose
I am after a simple W&B calculator for a PDA, with a few E6B
calculations (density altitude, say) but nothing else.
Try CoPilot, for the palm. It does more than just w&b, but you don't
have to use it. IT is outstandingly excellent though.

Missing C-150s at OSH by
Charles Talleyrand
I'm upset at the EAA!
There were no Cessna 150s doing a full power scream-into-the-air
takeoff during the airshow. Instead they used F-18s.
There were no Cessna 150s parked with pride between the B-1 and the
F-16. Instead they used a DC-3.
The designers of the Cessna 150 didn't give any...

2006 Annual -- My 8th Owner Assisted -- Update by
Jay Honeck
Things are moving along.
1. My new tail-to-fuselage fairing has arrived, and my A&P has allowed
as how we can use cherry pop rivets (rather than structural), which
will save a bunch of headache. (Although Mary will still have to get
back into the aft fuselage in order to vacuum up the rivets that...

337 for vent covers? by
Robert M. Gary
http://www.planeplastics.com is telling me I need to get a 337 to
replace my plastic air vent covers. Is that true? What would an
inspector be looking for? Too much cooling for the backseat and too hot
up front? :)

Cherokee battery box repair by
[email protected]
Hey all... I've got the plane down for an annual and have discovered a small
weeping leak in the bottom of the battery box (where the drain nozzle attaches). Am I
correct in recalling that the box is made of tin and the nozzle of copper? Will
regular Lead/Tin (60/40) solder this, or do I need...

Last Call - Any Yoke changers out there? by
Mike Spera
Still trying to find out if anyone has removed the old bowtie yokes from
their shafts and replaced them with ram's horns. Lots of folks changed
out the yoke/shafts as units, but nobody will fess up that they actually
swapped out the yokes themselves.
Since Piper lists the yoke/shaft as one part...

Leaning using EGT - Lycoming O-540 (Aztec) by
Dean
On my first flight in the Aztec with a fellow pilot who was doing the
flying, he stated to lean using the EGT (a recently installed
Electronics International digital single probe device)to circa 1300 and
no higher than 1350.
The aircraft does not have a CHT.
I am totally new to operating larger...

Garmin 296. Should I retire my 295? by
Bonza
The new Garmin 296 has been out for about a year now and the fanfare
seems to have subsided. There are seldom any new posts about it.
I was looking to trade in or replace my 295. I have one of the first
ones in my Bonanza and it is a great tool, I'd hate to be without it.
It is 4 years old now...

Piper PA-28 question by
GE
I recently purchased a 1973 Cherokee Charger. So far, I am really enjoying
the aircraft, but I have a question that has gone unanswered. There is no
mention of it in the POH or the information manual that I have.
Beneath the throttle quadrant but above the fuel selector (on the right
side), there...

Just a note for any of the thousands of pilots out there that can't fly
because they don't have a medical. If you are one or know someone then have
them join the Sport-Aircraft group.
Have a good day and stay out of the trees!

questions on business use of my personal aircraft by
Bob
For those of you using your plane for business...
1. What is the tax deductable rate for hourly use of aircraft (e.g.
for cars it is $.36 a mile I believe)?
2. Is it better to own my aircraft personally (to prevent the
aircraft being owned by the company in the event of a lawsuit) and
then have...

Halon Fire Extinguisher? by
O. Sami Saydjari
I just got my first issue of "Light Plane Maintenance" magazine.
I am really enjoying it. In their free book "40 Top Maintenance Tips"
(p27), they say "get the Halon extinguisher while they are still legal."
As I recall, there has been some issue that inhaling Halon can be pretty
bad for people's...

myself PIC and wife. The usual pre-flight and run-up everything normal.
