Not exactly the right group, but someone here will know, so I beg your
indulgence. When I resigned my commission in the 1970s, double-knit dress blues were authorized. Recently, I began playing taps at military funerals as a volunteer, and learned that wartime veterans are authorized (DOD directive 1334.1) to wear the uniform of the rank we had at the end of wartime service while performing that duty. Time to dust off the SDBs, but yikes! They're double-knit. I don't think I'd want to wear those now even if they were authorized, but I'm guessing they no longer are. Anyone here know? Oh, and I'm definitely in the market for some used tropical worsted SDBs, 44 chest, 38 waist (no longer cadet sized, I'm afraid). Best regards, -- John Miller Pensacola, '68 - '75 Confession is good for the soul, but bad for the career. |
