Customs in Argentina are better than before, that's for sure. Now there are more clear rules about temporary importation to add value to a product or process. Taxes and fees for the temporary import are tending to zero, where the costs are the caution insurance(in case that the gliders don't return to US) and logistics. The company that i've used to import the pegasus from UK was very clear with everything, the final cost did not change more than 5% from the initial budget. There where other formal issues because it was not temporary. In the case of Klauss, i'm sure that importing to Chile right at the side of Andes is cheaper and easier than to an Argentinian port and then drive 1000km. Test the glider before shipping back is doable. That is a good point. |
