Lopresti & Powerflow for Cheetah -- good as they say? by
Duane MacInnis
Hello all,
I may soon be the happy owner of a 78 Cheetah.
I would be tempted to immediately install the LoPresti cowl & rudder cap,
and the Powerflow exhaust.
When the engine croaks I will go for the 160 STC, but in the meantime the
cowl and exhaust combination may extend the cylinder life on...

Rogue's Gallery Update -- Talk about diversity! by
Jay Honeck
Wow. When we started the Rogue's Gallery -- a webpage where aviation
newsgroup aficionados can post pictures of our aircraft, in an effort to get
to know one another better -- I had no idea this thing would eventually grow
to encompass 32 different makes of aircraft!
More amazingly, within those...

Legal to Rent Yak-52? by
W[_3_]
Is it legal for a sport or commercial pilot in the US to rent a Yak-52
aerobatic plane for unassisted flight cross country? I guess these can
only be certified currently for exhibition/airshow. Is that likely to
change given they are still manufactured in Romania?

T-hangar and aircraft dimensions by
Nathan Young
I have rented space in a 40x40 hangar for the last few years, and am
planning on purchasing a t-hangar in the near future.
I would appreciate comments on desireable things to look for in a
hangar.
My thoughts:
1. Overall hangar condition, structurally sound. All the T-hangars
at my airport are...

flaps again by

Flyers,
First, as a reminder, some may recall that I had unwittingly landed one day
in Williamsburg, VA without the flaps. I didn't notice they had not
deployed until my next pre-flight when I found them INOP. They I remembered
out fast I came over the fence and controlling the airspeed was...

Post-Annual Flight by
Jay Honeck[_2_]
We decided to move the annual inspection for Atlas -- our '74 Cherokee
Pathfinder -- into February, since there has been little use for an airplane
this winter. As a result of the weather and the annual (bless me Father,
for I have sinned...) it had been 20 days since our last flight.
I've...

Aircraft Clock Service by

I am a watchmaker in Baltimore who specializes in mechanical aircraft clocks
for collectors. It dawned on me that I could do something useful and make
my services known to owners and restorers of vintage aircraft. While I can

dirty oil by
Dan Luke
The oil in my Lyc. O-360 F1A6 is black only two hours after being changed.
What could be causing this? Compressions were in the 70s at annual in
September.

Cherokee 6 manual/info? by
Al
It looks like I will have a mission to pick up a PA32-300 on Thurs. Can
anyone point me to an online copy of the flight maual, or perhaps some of
the pertinent information? I've got a couple of hours in a PA32-260 some
years ago, and will have a copy of the manual available when I pick up...

Hard Starting Cold Continental Engines by
M.E. Borner
My Seneca V (Continental TSIO-360-RB) has been very hard to start
during cold weather for the past few winters I have owned it. Besides
burning out several starters I have tried tune-ups prior to winter and
installing the Slick Shower of Sparks ignition system. All have helped
a little but no...

Owner's Manual Format by
RST Engineering
Printing costs have been on a steady exponential increase, following right

Hey Guys,
I'm looking at at 172 that has 1100 hours since overhaul, holding 73/90

Maule Turbine by
kevin
Does anyone have any experience with the Maule with the Allison turbine
engine ? The Maule with the Lycombing IO-540 is $170.M , where the
MT7-420 is going for $470.M new. I would have to add about $75.M in
options for either bird. What do you think about the Allison turbine in
a Maule ?
Thanks

Still flying with the 195 on my yolk and that was $ well spent years

down the pike next? Seems about 2 year intervals for these portables.
Thanks for any info.

Cherokee alternator bracket replacement by
[email protected]
Hey all... My Cherokee is almost done with the annual, but in the 75 hours
since it was last inspected, the alternator bracket has cracked. It's complicated by
the fact that the plane was originally a PA28-140, but now has a Lycoming O-360-A3A.
So, the parts book doesn't necessary literally apply....
